John 4:23-24

Jesus said, "23Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."

Father in Heaven,
You are omnipresent. I can worship You any time and any place. You don’t care where I worship. You’re interested in how I worship. With Your Spirit hovering over me, I can worship … in the driest desert, the darkest valley, on the highest mountain, in the quiet country, in the busy city, in my home or in my car … wherever I am, You are there helping me worship. How do I know?

  • You have given me Your Holy Spirit and filled my heart with love. (Romans 5:5)
  • You have sent the Holy Spirit to teach me all things and remind me of everything You’ve ever spoken to me. (John 14:26)
  • When I don’t know how to pray, when I just can’t find the words, You help me in my weakness, by searching my heart. Without ever uttering a Word, the Holy Spirit speaks on my behalf according to Your will. (Romans 8: 26-27)
Full of Your love, when I study my Bible, You teach me, tucking the truth in the hollow of my heart. When the truth is in me, I can worship You in Spirit by obeying Your commands. Every where I go, every thing I do, think, or say can be a delightful act of worship when I deliberately chose to follow You. Because I am full of You, I will make music in my heart, meditate on Your Words, and pray without ceasing, always giving thanks to You, in the name of my Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Everything you do can be an act of worship when You are filled with the Holy Spirit and the truth of His Word. Worship Him today with everything that’s in you.

Psalm 27:4-5

4 One thing I ask of the LORD,
this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple.

5 For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle
and set me high upon a rock.

Lord,
There is one thing I ask: that I may live in Your holy house all the days of my life and gaze upon Your beauty. I will seek You in the temple of my heart. In Your glorious presence, I will be safe from trials, tragedy and trouble. Your power and promises will divinely protect me. Securely perched high on a rock, I will offer You a sacrifice of praise.

When I seek Your face at the throne of grace, and look into Your beautiful eyes, You mercifully hear my voice and answer me. You are tenderhearted. When my earthly friends and family cannot help me, You are there. It’s Your divine guidance I seek. As I look to You Lord, I see Your goodness in all my circumstances. In Your gracious presence I can be still and wait with a calm and quiet heart. You are my strength. I give You my heavy load and You willingly carry it. Eternal life is my hope, peace and joy. It keeps me from fainting under tragedy. I desire nothing more than to live in Your presence all the days of my life. You are my Father and I simply want to live in Your blessing where You will be glorified all the days of my life because of Jesus. Amen.

If you are facing trial, tragedy or trouble, gaze into the beautiful eyes of your loving Father. Talk to Him and He will hear You. In His presence You will be blessed.

Psalm 46:10

Dear Faithful Reader,
It’s hard to believe I’ve been writing the Prayer Pal for almost a year. There are still times when I marvel at this gift God has given me. Who am I that I should write for Him? I am not eloquent of speech or tongue. Yet, I am living proof that the Holy Spirit empowers us to achieve the seemingly unachievable.

I am honored that God has chosen me to write for the praise of His glory. Right now I am working on a Prayer Pal project calling for concentration to complete. I am going to take a little break from my daily writing to "just be" still in God’s presence and listen to His sweet voice speak to me.

Please remain faithful to the Lord if I am not there for you every morning. I encourage you to read the Word for yourself and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you. Try your own hand at writing a love letter to God. You too may be surprised at the words that flow when He holds the pen.

May the Lord bless and keep you!
With His Love,
The Prayer Pal

Reflections from Psalm 104

Psalm 104:1
O LORD my God, you are very great;
you are clothed with splendor and majesty.

O Lord, You are incredibly awesome! Wrapped in an elegant garment of brilliant light, You’re dressed in golden splendor and sparkling majesty. You stretch out the skies like an unending tent over the entire universe. You send glimmering rays to heaven to glisten on the water. A blazing Holy Spirit Wildfire ignites hearts and souls with Your glory.

As the brisk breeze blows puffy white clouds, You ride them like Your chariots. The winds are Your messenger. Sometimes they quietly whisper, rustling the colorful autumn leaves. Other times they’re a thunderous roar rebuking raging rivers into the ravines.

You are an amazingly sophisticated artist. You’ve wisely designed day and night, land and sea, plants and animals, man and woman, each with a unique purpose for Your pleasure. The earth is full of Your glorious goodness.

How many are Your works O Lord! Your glory endures forever! When I look on the magnificent high, jagged peaks rising abruptly from the flat valley, I am captivated by Your wonderful creativity. Gazing upon spectacular splashing waves suddenly lifting from the deep sea, I am spellbound by Your splendid beauty. Seeing You as You truly are, my only response is to exalt You in the beauty of Your holiness and sing praises to my Creator King.
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, all thy works shall praise thy name in earth and sky and sea! Amen.

Take a walk through nature and worship God on the ground you walk on.

Psalm 62

1 I wait quietly before God,
for my salvation comes from him.

2 He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will never be shaken.

3 So many enemies against one man--all of them trying to kill me.
To them I'm just a broken-down wallor a tottering fence.

4 They plan to topple me from my high position.
They delight in telling lies about me. They are friendly to my face,
but they curse me in their hearts.

5 I wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in him.

6 He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will not be shaken.

7 My salvation and my honor come from God alone.
He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.

8 O my people, trust in him at all times.
Pour out your heart to him,
for God is our refuge.

9 From the greatest to the lowliest
--all are nothing in his sight.
If you weigh them on the scales, they are lighter than a puff of air.

10 Don't try to get rich by extortion or robbery.
And if your wealth increases,
don't make it the center of your life.

11 God has spoken plainly,
and I have heard it many times: Power, O God, belongs to you;

12 unfailing love, O Lord, is yours.
Surely you judge all peopleaccording to what they have done. NLT

Almighty God-
My soul silently waits for You. My rest is in You alone. You are my rock and my salvation. Nothing can ever separate me from You! I run to You for shelter and protection. There, I calmly, quietly, patiently wait for the wicked world to pass.

The world is pursuing me, tempting me to join in the pursuit for power, prestige, possessions, and pleasure. Everywhere I turn, there is another demand for my time, talent, and treasure. The Prince of Darkness fully intends to topple me from my lofty and safe haven with You. All around me, people delight in his lies. They try to lure me by speaking persuasive words that sound good, pleasing and delightful, but in their hearts, they are deceitful. Before getting too excited about new attractive ideas, I will carefully examine the things I hear against Your Word. Please fill me with more knowledge and wisdom so that I can determine if I am hearing the Truth.

The temptation to abandon You can sneak up on me as a whisper of doubt. I will overcome the whisper of temptation by pouring out my heart to You. You will help me as I pray and diligently study Your Word. I will be devoted to You because You are strong, loving and dependable. I will love You with all my heart and soul. I will follow and fear You since You are my hope and my salvation. I will do my best to keep Your commands because I long for the promised reward to those who love and obey You. I believe You when You say, "The Son of Man is going to come in His Father’s glory with His angels, and then He will reward each person according to what he has done."

Instead of chasing the world, I am choosing to pursue You, Jesus, the One and Only. Amen.

Who are you pursuing the world or Jesus?

Hebrews: 12:29

Hebrews 12: 29
Our God is a consuming fire.

1 Thessalonians 5:19
Do not put out the Spirit’s fire.

2 Timothy 1:6
Fan into flame the gift of God, which is in You.

Holy Spirit Wildfire~
You are a raging fire that cannot be contained! You consume everything that is worthless and wicked. Only righteousness, goodness and dedication remain. Set my heart ablaze! Burn away the wicked waste of my worthless sin so that it is forever forgotten. Turn my heap of stinking smoldering cinder into brilliant blazing beauty as I fervently follow You. Don’t let my passionate pursuit peter out.

  • Circumstances and suffering may dampen my relationship with You, but a flickering flame can be fanned into luminous light again. Fan into flame the gift that is in me.
  • The sin of self-satisfaction may extinguish the flame of intimacy. Throw the fuel of Truth on it to show me how wretched, pitiful, blind and naked I am.
  • When fear smothers my ability to behold Your regal glory up close and personally, ignite my faith with courage to believe You.
  • When Satan attempts to diffuse my affection for You by dousing me with distractions, rekindle the flame by taking captive my time and thoughts and making them obedient to You.

Passion is Your gift to me! Depleted and dampened, my devotion can easily be dispelled. With only smoldering embers remaining, my flame will not go out when I walk in the Light of my brothers and sisters. Together we will be spiritually combustible, glowing with a holy flame.
Precious Lord, I never want to lose my fervor or zeal for You. I want to be completely consumed by You, utterly impassioned by Your love and mercy, and absolutely ablaze with Your power and glory. I want the glow from Your divine flame to be seen for miles! Set me on fire for Your name sake! Amen.

Is your flame of faith faintly flickering or fully ablaze? If it’s faint, find someone who is burning brilliantly and seize a spark from them. If you’re burning a bright Holy Spirit wildfire, fan Your flame to those who are petering out. Together we will be spiritually combustible!

Hebrews 1:3

Christ is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature. (ESV)

2 Corinthians 3:18
All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him. (MSG)

O Glorious Lord,
Thank You for autumn, the wondrous time of year when You naturally display Your radiant glory. The joyous explosion of color that bursts over the landscape breathes life into my soul. Blazing, multi-colored palettes of fall foliage are a spectacular backdrop for Your jaw-dropping beauty. You are the exact imprint of the stunning vistas that mesmerize me.

As I spend time in Your nature, open the eyes of my heart and enlighten my mind to see the glory of Jesus. Forgive me for the excessive attention I pay to insignificant material things. Have mercy on me for Christ’s sake. Complete the fascinating design You began in me. Make me a showcase to display the magnificent, splendid, wonderful glory of Your grace.

Shine the light of the Gospel into my heart. Set me ablaze like the fall foliage as I focus clearly on Your glorious face. Transform me into Your brilliant, majestic, beautiful image. My blessed hope is in the day when I perfectly radiate Your glory because of Jesus. Amen.

God's Beauty Bar

1 Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

Ezekiel 16: 10-14 (paraphrased)
The word of the sovereign LORD came to me. "I clothed you with costly garments. I adorned you with jewelry. I put a beautiful crown on your head. You became beautiful and rose to be a queen. The splendor I had given you made your beauty perfect."

Proverbs 31:10
When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule when she gives instructions.

1 Timothy 2: 9-10
I want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

I Peter 3: 4
Put on the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit.

Glorious King~
You are beautiful beyond imagination! Who can fathom Your splendor or majesty? You are the most radiant, lovely, divine King in all of heaven and earth. There is no one or no thing as wonderful and glorious as You. There’s nothing I desire more than entering your pleasant palace where I can gaze upon your beauty all the days of my life.

I come just as I am with my braided hair, fine jewelry, and expensive clothes. In awe of You, I gladly surrender them for a magnificent costly robe of righteousness appropriate for the exquisite beauty treatment I’m about to receive. Trembling in awe of your holiness, I quickly realize that my charm and beauty are fake and fleeting. I humbly bow down and praise You.
You massage the aromatic oil of Your Holy Word into the hardest knots in my heart. As I inhale the sweet fragrance of Your Word, my own words become wiser, gentler, and kinder. Quietly resting in Your presence, You knead me until I become tender. My spirit becomes gentle and quiet. I am at peace.

As You exfoliate all the dead cells of sin, my face becomes soft and glows with Your love. I leave Your beauty bar, miraculously made over. Modestly dressed, I am clothed in humility, sparkling with the splendor of my salvation. You place a radiant crown of forgiveness on my head. You have made me perfectly beautiful. Thank You, Jesus! Because I want to be a queen like Esther, I will come to your beauty bar daily, hoping that You will make me Your beauty queen for the praise of Your glorious name. Amen.

Come to God’s Beauty Bar. Allow His Words to penetrate the hardness of your heart. Receive a miracle makeover.

Hebrews 12: 10-11, 14

10God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. 11No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. 14Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.

Lord of Peace, My Father,
Forgive me for only seeing You as a gracious, merciful, gentle, loving Father and rejecting You as a stern disciplinarian who has all authority over me. While You are my loving Father, You are also the judge of all mankind. Help me dear Lord, by Your grace to understand Your holiness, Your righteousness, Your justice, and Your wrath against sin. Thank You God, that I am Your child and with that comes high expectations. You may let other children alone in their sin, but because I am Your child and under Your authority, I am held to higher standard and You will discipline me. I don't like being disciplined. It's painful and humiliating! Help me to accept it gratefully as a means of developing me into a righteous, peaceful, gentle, patient, quiet, holy child. May people recognize by my behavior the family to whom I belong.

God, I'm sorry that I live a double life - one minute praising and worshipping You; the next sinning before the holy, righteous judge of all people as though You were blind and deaf! I am so childlike! Please dear Lord, just give me more faith to BELIEVE that You are who You say You are:

Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient
Merciful, Kind, Compassionate, Patient
Long-suffering, Full of Love and Grace
Holy, Just, Pure, Stern, Unchangeable
A Righteous Judge who means what He says about his holiness!

Pardon me for not taking You more seriously! I've doubted what You've said to me in Your word and treated You more like a little playmate than my great big Father, the Judge of the Most High Court. Please forgive me! Open my eyes and reveal Your holy God-ness to me.

God, I want to respect Your authority and obey You so that You will reveal Yourself as Jehovah Shalom! Come to me in my doubt, laziness, despair, discouragement, and fear as my Lord of Peace. Fill me with supernatural strength and courage to overcome every enemy! You have every right to cast me aside and punish me forever, but instead You deliver me from temptation, empower me to overcome evil and give me the gift of peace. You are Almighty God, high, holy, and righteous. I humbly come to You in the name of Jesus seeking to harvest the succulent fruit of righteousness and peace. Amen

Do you make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy? Do people recognize from your behavior the family to which you belong?

Psalm 135: 15-18

15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
made by the hands of men.
16 They have mouths, but cannot speak,
eyes, but they cannot see;
17 they have ears, but cannot hear,
nor is there breath in their mouths.
18 Those who make them will be like them,
and so will all who trust in them.

Holy and Most High God~
My Heavenly Father~
I praise Your name! Thank You for the privilege to serve in the sacred halls of Your house. You are good to Your children! Because we are Your treasured possessions You lavish us with indescribable gifts: A cherished crown of forgiveness; a perfectly flawless robe of righteousness woven with strong threads of unconditional love; heavenly hope; peace beyond our
understanding; merciful patience; tender loving compassion; a firm foundation of faith; supernatural power to overcome evil and temptation.

You are highly exalted! No other gods can give us greater gifts. The gifts You give cost more than we could ever pay. You are able to do just as You please. You give us puffy clouds and warm sunshine; pouring rain and howling winds; blue skies and majestic mountains; rolling seas and roaring thunder; fruitful plains and dry deserts; fragrant flowers and gentle breezes.
Instead of graciously accepting these pricey gifts, we often toss them aside without unwrapping them, like spoiled children. Instead of longing for more of You, we wish for trinkets and trophies made of silver and gold. Forgive us, O Lord, for trading Your eternal treasures for temporary trash.

Chiseled mouths cannot speak. Painted eyes cannot see. Carved ears cannot hear. Wood and metal cannot breath. They are dead! When we choose to keep and value them we become like them – spiritually dead.

Have mercy on me, Living God! Remove the idols that I’ve allowed to clutter the temple of my heart, Your home. It’s time for a good housecleaning. Purify my heart! Sanctify my soul. Breath new life into me. Open my eyes to see the priceless treasures You offer me. Open my ears to hear Your voice. Open my mouth to speak loving words of encouragement. Open my heart to every spiritual blessing You have for me. Be exalted O God, above all the silver and gold trinkets and trophies because of the precious gift of Jesus. Amen.

What have you exalted above Jesus in your life? Are you willing to give it up for Him?

A few of God’s gifts are: salvation, forgiveness, redemption, righteousness, healing, everlasting love, peace, mercy, goodness, strength, adoption, wisdom, and understanding

Hebrews 10: 19-23

19Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. NIV

Most High God! You are the exalted One who lives forever. Your name is holy. Your home is a high and holy place. I am not worthy to come into Your presence. I live in a despicable, dirty, shack, built on a foundation of dust. Filthy and foul, You invite me to come just as I am to Your Most Holy Place through the curtain that is the body of Christ. With His precious blood, You wash me so that I am whiter than snow. What an honor and privilege it is to be here where I can draw near to You with a pure heart.

Blessed assurance Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
Thank You God!

I praise You because I can walk freely in the power of forgiveness! With Your strength, I can walk away from my addictions, attractions, and afflictions. Led by the power of the Holy Spirit, I desire nothing more than to hear and obey You.

Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest;
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

Fill me dear Lord, with more of Your goodness! May Your Words always be on my mind, Your love always in my heart, and Your power always control my selfish desires. God, I just want to love You deeper, more passionately, and more intimately than ever before.

Right now, I am choosing to run away from the darkness of my past, and into Your loving arms where You will shelter me with Your all-sufficient grace. You are faithful and true! I am believing You because of Jesus. Amen.

God has given you the power to walk in freedom from your addictions, attractions, and afflictions. Do you claim that freedom? Do you run into his loving arms when Satan is tempting you?

Our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit, and with deep conviction. 1 Thessalonians 1:5

Revelations 22: 12-15

12"Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. 13I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
14"Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

Lord Jesus,
You are the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Life starts and finishes with You. I believe that You are coming! Ancient history proves that You are trustworthy and true. Therefore, I will wash my robe and seek to purify myself from a sinful way of life. Forgive me, Righteous Judge, for:

  • Practicing magic arts – expecting You to take a magic wand and with an "Abracadabra" make things better.
  • Sexual immorality (confess Your sin: fornication, lust, adultery, homosexuality, incest, pornography, immodest dress, flirtation)
Murder – perhaps I have not killed anyone physically, but there are people whom have made me so angry that I’ve hated them and wished they were dead! Therefore, I have killed them in my heart.
  • Idolaters – all the things I have elevated above You (confess your idols: money, people, possessions, power, success, time, talents)
  • Loving and practicing falsehood (confess your sin: gossip, lying, cheating, idol words, wrong motives, evil thoughts, complacency, laziness, slothfulness)
Purify my heart. Sanctify my soul. Wash me, Jesus! Create in me a clean heart. I desire nothing more than to eat the sweet, succulent fruit from the tree of life. I long to go through the pearl gates into the Golden City, the New Jerusalem, where I will worship and adore You forever. Because I fear being left outside with the ferocious, barking dogs, I will earnestly seek to overcome all the things that could separate me from You. Daily, I will come to the river of righteousness and wash my robe so that when You come, You will find me holy and fit to enter Your Kingdom through Jesus. Amen.

Confess those sins that you need to confess in order to receive the promised inheritance. I have listed only a few.

Hebrews 12: 28

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.

Holy and Awesome God-
Your beauty and majesty are astonishing! You are seated on a radiant throne high above the earth. Your glory twinkles brilliantly like the bright Morning Star. I am in awe of You!

Your splendid kingdom is my heavenly home and highest hope. I anticipate the jubilation and celebration as thousands and thousands of adoring angels surround You in wonderful worship.
Overwhelming joy will fill my heart when my name is read from the Lamb’s Book of Life. With a holy fear, I will boldly approach the throne of grace hand-in-hand with my precious Friend, Jesus. He will present me to You as holy, blameless and pure. You will compassionately, lovingly, faithfully open Your arms wide and welcome me home because of Your Son, my Savior. The keys to heaven will be given to me! It’s a gift too wonderful for words, too great to grasp!

Thank You for the privilege and honor of knowing You deeply, intimately, and personally. Your unshakable kingdom is in me! When the fragile world around me is shaken and shattered, I will stand firm in Your power. My only response is to bow down and worship You in reverent awe of who You are – the King of my heart. You are the Living God and Your kingdom is mine forever and ever because of Jesus. Hallelujah! Amen.

The unshakable kingdom of God is in you too. Worship Him with thanksgiving, in reverence and awe of all that He’s given you – a promised home in His kingdom in heaven forever!

Matthew 9: 12-13

12Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Father God-
You are the Divine Doctor I need! I still marvel at the fact that You love, chose, and adopted me despite my indecent life, impure motives, and improper attitudes. You accept me as Your beloved child. After adopting me, You turned me into a beautiful masterpiece in Your heavenly workshop. Now I am useful to do the good things You planned for me.

By Your grace, use me as an instrument of peace to reach out to unbelievers. The new eyes You have given me will look past their sin and see the person You created them to be. You know everything we have done, said, and thought, and yet accept, redeem and forgive us.

Unnoticed unhealthy people all around me are dying for the gift of friendship. Like Matthew, I will lay aside my reputation and invite them to my home for dinner. I will find common ground with them. In my home, Your healing balm will touch and transform them into a unique work of art for Your purpose and pleasure.

Father, forgive me for making this life a popularity contest. It is not about ME. It’s all about YOU. Please show me who needs a miracle makeover today and I will obediently reach out to them in the spirit of friendship because of Jesus. Amen.

Invite a nonbeliever into the core of your life today. Be courteous and authentic to them. Spend frequent time with them. Allow the Great Physician to touch them through you.

2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Jehovah-rapha, Healing Lord,
How great You are! There is no Doctor like You in heaven or on earth! You compassionately and lovingly take care of Your patients who pursue You with all their heart. Thank You God for my heart transplant. Through intricate surgery, You made a Most Holy Place in my heart for Your Name. When my heart was open, You placed Your sacred laws in it. God, I rejoice that You will dwell there forever.

Divine Doctor, as I spend time with You this week, examine my heart. Diagnose the diseases that are devouring me. Open my mind to receive the results with acceptance. Then, let the medication of Your glory fill my sick soul. Breathe new life into me. Resuscitate me and I will follow Your prescription for healing:

  • Humbly, I will admit that I am sick and in need of Your care.
  • Prayerfully, I will ask You to wash my wounds and heal my hurts.
  • Continually, I will seek Your advice by spending time in Your Word, the Holy Bible.
  • Daily, I will bring my afflictions and addictions to You.
Then, You will hear my cries from heaven and cure my condition. You will heal me because of Your wonderful name, Jehovah-rapha, Lord Who Heals. Thank You for the blessing of healing grace given to Your beloved children! I am eternally grateful because of Jesus. Amen.

Are you following the prescription for healing ordered by the Great Physician? How great He is!

2 Corinthians 1: 3-7

3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 5For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 6If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. 7And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

Father of Mercy! God of Grace!
I praise and adore You for covering me with the warm Comforter of Your love. Under Your soft blanket, there is peace for my mixed-up mind and quiet for my qualms and quandaries. When hardships make my heart heavy, I am blessed by Your sweet comforts. Under the mantle of Your love there is mercy and grace. My sins are forgiven and my spirit enlivened. Wounded, weary and weak, I rest under Your soft feathers. There I find hope, healing and happiness.

After I’m rested, renewed and refreshed, I will get up and share my warm Comforter with someone else. Because I have experienced Your blessing of sweet consolation I will be able to soothe the sad souls surrounding me. Please show me someone who needs the warm Blanket of Your love today. I will gratefully share my comforting bundle of blessing with them for Your namesake. Amen.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by your qualms and quandaries allow God to comfort You. If you’ve been blessed by the Blanket of His love, share it with someone else for the glory of His marvelous name.

Exodus 15: 22-27

22 Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert of Shur. For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water. 23 When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah.) 24 So the people grumbled against Moses, saying, "What are we to drink?"

25 Then Moses cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became sweet.

There the LORD made a decree and a law for them, and there he tested them. 26 He said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you."

27 Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there near the water.

Jehovah-rapha, Lord who heals,
You are the Great Physician in a wounded world. We are just like the Israelites. You’ve freed us from the slavery of sin only to allow us to wander in the sin-scorched world where there is no water. Encamped in a wasteland of rubble and wreckage, amidst broken hearts and broken lives, disease and death surround us. The rancid smell of spiritual death makes me ill.
Dehydrated and exhausted, people are anxious, agitated and angry from their bitter brew of affliction. They can’t drink it. The taste is terrible.

God, give me faith to believe that You are the Great Physician! In seasons of sharp distress, I don’t want to grumble, complain and murmur against You. I want to cry out and trust You to graciously provide the tree – the tree of sweet salvation on which Your dear Son was nailed. I will toss it into the bitter wastewater, and You will sweeten it. By the water, I will wait and carefully listen to hear Your voice. I’ll sit still and not toss stones, behaving in a manner that’s pleasing to You. I will pay attention to Your rules. Then, when I sip that sweet water, I will savor the flavor and celebrate eternal life.

Jehovah-rapha, You are the Lord who heals. You make my weary soul well. You keep my weak spirit strong and healthy. You are my life! Protect me from evil and deliver me from temptation so that I can serve You in the wilderness. Show me someone in my camp who needs a doctor, and I will actively become involved in healing their wounds for Your glorious name. Amen.

Do you know God as the Great Physician? Do you hear His command and promise? If you listen carefully to His voice, do what is right in His eyes, and pay attention to His commands, He promises to keep you strong and healthy. Do you believe God? No sin is too big for Him to forgive and heal! Pick up the tree. Toss it in. Then, begin listening to Him.
